March Favorites 2015

Yup. It’s the middle of April and I’m just NOW getting to my March favorites. I feel like it’s the typing of shame right now. Well, instead of dwelling on my horrible timing, let’s get right down to it.

I’ve always been really into hats, and this year I’ve decided to branch out and be more into a Kentucky Derby-esque theme. Big hats. One in particular I got at a place you wouldn’t typically think to look. The Icing. While shopping with my family, little niece included, we stopped in the Icing and I picked up two things – one being this amazing hat, which I wore for Easter Sunday.
It's a-me!
Yes, this is actually me!

I’d been meaning to get a new wallet for awhile, seeing as how my current wallet has decided to start ripping. And it might be because I like to shove as much as possible into it… maaaybe. SO! While on the high of finding this hat, I also grabbed this sweet wallet! I love all the space inside. There’s an insane amount of slots for your cards, window slots for your IDs and extra space for cash and change. I love it! Hmph. No image on the Icing site. But, what I love about this wallet, besides the size, is that it’s not one of those hard wallets. There’s some give, which allows me to stuff what I need inside and not have to worry about breaking anything.

Bath and Body Works is having their 2 for $22 sale on their collection of three wick candles. I didn’t go with their new Hawaiian line because that just really isn’t my style. Instead, I picked up Happy and Rainforest Gardenia. Both of these scents are amazing. They smell clean, light, and brighten up my area with that pop of color. I’m definitely looking forward to burning down these beauties.

Makeup Tip
My favorite makeup tip, for the month of March, is to put lighter colors, or shades, in the inner corner of your eye. I haven’t been getting a ton of sleep. The weather has been super gloomy. All these add up to a horribly tired look. Adding that pop of light to the inner corner opens up your eyes and makes you look more awake than you really are. It also makes you look more youthful and fresh. It’s a super easy trick that anyone can use!

My favorite book for the month of March was… ok. I have more than one. This month was insane for insane (dammit, word choice) books. There were three books that I gave four stars! Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, The Magicians, and The Skriker (review will be out soon!) These are great books for so many different reasons, which I’ll go into more details in my book reviews. It was a great month for reading!

Trader Joe’s Chocolate Covered Potato Chips. You guys. HERMAHGERD. This is the perfect combination of salty and sweet. This is… I can’t come up with words. I’m salivating as I write this right now. Just go. Go get yourself a bag and enjoy. They’ll be gone in one sitting.

That’s about it for March. We’ll be having an April Favorites before you know it thanks to my super late March updates.

February Favorites 2015

Hello, hello my beauty beasties. This is my first (ever) attempt at doing a favorites post! So, let’s stop messing around and get right to it:

**Disclaimer: These are not my images.

For the winter months, I enjoy smells that are a little heavier and not so much into fruits. I’ve been lathering up with Bath and Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom and loving it. Fun fact that I found out recently: Bath and Body Works is cruelty-free, which makes this the Cherry Blossom on top of the sundae.

I’ve also been pairing this with the body spray, especially because I don’t shower in the mornings. I want to keep the just-showered smell alive.

Fitness Apparel
As mentioned in a previous blog, I’ve been all about my Under Armour Wonder Woman Headbands. They keep the whispy hairs out of my face, and I just feel like I can take on the world much like the Amazonian herself. They come in fun colors, so I switch off for each day I head out to the gym.

Another Fitness favorite goes to my I Hate Running shirt. I picked this up at Pink, and it has never been truer. It’s a super lightweight muscle back shirt that’s flowy at the bottom. While wearing this on long runs, I get giggles and smiles from fellow runners. I just think it’s hilarious, especially since now is the time my super-skinny-runs-for-fun-vegan-roommate is planning all the races she’s going to do this year and keeps roping me in.

I’m not one to be the first in line for a green shake. I’m just not. The sound of kale and spinach did not excite me, until recently. I tried the Green Monster from Oh She Glows and I’m loving it. My knight in shining armor even loves it – and he mostly hates things that taste healthy. And that’s the thing! It doesn’t taste healthy. You can’t taste the spinach or the kale (whichever you use). It’s all vanilla and peanut butter and yum. I know you won’t believe me until you try it. I mean, who wants to drink a green shake? I do.

Make Up
I’ve only tried a couple new things this past month and one of them is: Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara by Grow Luscious. It makes my lashes look super voluminous without being super clumpy. It doesn’t go on thick, so they look pretty natural. I’ve been smitten, for sure. I’ve recently run out of my past mascara and was looking to try something new. I wanted something that works for minimal make up and dramatic. This is a winner.

Outfit of the Day – Workin’ Bold

Hey guys. I’ve never done one of these and thought I would try it, however, I already know I’ve failed out as an OOTD poster by not having images of myself. Womp womp. I’m learning here, so bare with me!

I’m going to preface this by saying that I work for a .com company and I don’t talk to customers, soooo I can wear jeans (and pretty much whatever I want). If your work doesn’t let you do this, don’t. Save it for a weekend or after-work ensemble (whippin’ out the fancy words).

We’ll start from the bottom and work the way up. (Started from the bottom now we’re heeehh – Wow. Stop.)

Shoes: Sketchers. I’m not joking. I’m wearing Sketchers. Solid black, and you can’t see anything that gives away the fact I’m wearing shoes for someone who’s in elementary school. Wow. I just went to look for a picture, and I’m pretty sure I bought them so long ago that they aren’t being sold anymore. :/

Jeans: Rock & Republic straight leg jeans. Dark blue with some distressing. *Searching for an image* (This is why I should take my own pictures!! It’s all becoming clear now.)
Photo Cred: Kohl's
I got them from Kohl’s because I’m an adult, and I do what I want.

Shirt: Black Razor Back. Nothing fancy here. Just a black razor back shirt. It’s clean, it’s simple, it’s versatile. It’s actually one of my favorite articles of clothing I own. No picture because, again, I bought this ages ago, and I’m sure they don’t sell it anymore.

Cover: This cover is new. I literally bought it last night. Literally. I love the pattern. It’s striped, but also more complex than that.

I got this from Carson’s using store credit, after I returned ill-fitting Christmas gifts. It’s insanely soft and I’ll probably wear this a ton. I think it’ll be easy to dress up or dress down. Wheee! Fashion-related sentences that I’ve probably never said out loud before.

Ring: The outfit is pretty muted and I think a huge statement ring would definitely jazz it up. I didn’t go with a lot of color on this because I have bigger plans for my pop of color. I got this flower ring from Charming Charlie. And once again I can’t find any images that are even close to what I’m wearing. Soooo, I’ve learned a few things about this whole OOTD posting.

Makeup: I did really subtle eyes with a light brown and minimal eye liner, but a ton of mascara. Here’s my pop of color – the lips. I love having bold, brilliant, bright lips when the rest of my outfit is muted. I used Revlon Colorburst™ Matte Balm in Unapologetic.

Hair: Messy Bun. I’m talking messy messy. Not omg my hair is, like, so messy. I’m talking Holy crap did she just roll out of bed like that? messy.

Boom. There’s what I’m wearing today. I’ve learned a few things while doing this that I’ll improve on. 1. Take my own pictures! 2. I need to update my wardrobe if I can’t even find most of this stuff online. If you have other suggestions or fashion ideas, let me know in the comments below!
